Therapeutic Dance and Relaxation Classes Continue in Spring
The therapeutic dance and relaxation classes continue in Dance Theatre ERI. Classes are led by Silja McNamara, MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy. Spring season starts Sunday, 21.1. The psycho-somatic power of dance has a recognized healing effect.
Emotions, to express and adjust them, constitute an important part of a person’s overall well-being. The authentic movement, the Bartenieff fundamentals excerises, dance improvisation and relaxation opens for exploratory journeys into the own body and the own emotions. During classes, the different excercises help you to be consciously present, to treat also difficult emotions and to find your resources and joy of life. Participants need no former dance experience. During classes we move alone as well as in groups. The movements can be personal experiences, varying from time to time.
Silja McNamara, MA Dance Movement Psychotherapy, has specialized in Grief Therapy (Roehampton University, London). She also has a degree in dancing (BA Hons Performing Arts) from the London Metropolitan University. Among other engagements, Silja was appointed guest teacher at the Dance Therapy Programme at Helsinki Theatre Academy in 2014-2015. She has been lecturing on the importance of dance for our health and wellbeing at i.e. the International Grief Conference and the Nordic Art Therapy Seminar in 2016.
