Sin Opera

Syntiooppera - Tanssiteatteri ERI

In the fall 2013 premiered Sin Opera combines singing, music, poetry and dance theatre. The work mirrors the essence of since, both with classic and new interpretations.

Sin Opera presents well-known opera arias and lieds, composed by Händel, Donizetti, Mozart, Schubert and Stravinsky. Strong images on the stage are opened by a narrator, who interprets the lyrics in Finnish. The songs are being sung in their original languages. Dance brings theatrical effects and visual strength in to the entirety.

The imagery of sin Opera varies from humorous in to more solemn, and the moralities in the end are even tragic. Epilogue, however, raises hope and light as the final feelings – in other words, the ame elements our world needs the most.

Narrator of Sin Opera is actress Birgitta Ulfsson and the songs are being interpreted by mezzo soprano Essi Luttinen. Music has been arranged by composer Lauri Mäntysaari and it is being interpreted by pianist Mikael Kemppainen and violinists Hanne Lund and Katariina Sallinen. Dramaturgy, direction and choreography is by Tiina Lindfors and light designing by Esa Kyllönen.
